Academic advisors are sometimes contacted by students about the Course Permit process. Students may initiate a Course Permit form, as early as during drop/add, to request changes to their semester schedule. These changes may require permission by an instructor or department based on departmental restrictions placed on courses.
Students may reach out to their academic advisor to discuss a change to their schedule at various times in the semester. It is important to remind them that adding or dropping courses may have implications including but not limited to (a) not having ample time to catch up on missed work; (b) visa implications for international students; and (c) financial and scholarship implications. Please direct students to these various units for additional advice.
