• Students who are in dismissal pending status may petition CURC to remain in degree-seeking status and in the special probation process. Special probation is like probation except it is for students who have earned 13 or more quality deficit points. (See CURC Process for more information.)
  • Students who are in the Special Probation Process are expected to decrease their Quality Point Deficit each semester. If the Quality Point Deficit does not decrease at the end of the semester, students will be dismissed. Grades of C+ or better are needed to reduce Quality Point Deficits.
  • Students leave the Special Probation Process and enter the regular Probation Process when their Quality Deficit Points are between 0.1 and 13.0 and exit the Probation Process altogether when all of their Quality Deficit Points have been eliminated.
  • Special consideration is given to undergraduates, in their first or second semester at UD, who are facing dismissal. Students who finish their first or second semester at UD with 13 or more Quality Deficit Points may request to be placed on First and Second Semester Special Probation instead of being dismissed. Placement in the First and Second Semester Special Probation Process must be approved by the student’s Assistant Dean and by CURC. While in the First and Second Semester Special Probation Process, students are expected to meet regularly with an academic advisor.
